    DNV GL’s Energy Transition Outlook identifies Solar as the fastest growing form of electricity generation, projected to provide one third of the world’s electricity demand by 2050. Energy has set out an ambitious growth strategy for our global solar business, in line with the expected continued global growth of this industry.


    The Solar Segment Leader will drive our business towards achievement of the goals set out in Energy’s 2020 Solar Strategy, working in close collaboration with the Regional and Business Unit Managers and their solar teams across DNV GL Energy.


    The Segment Leader will focus on the key markets and customers for growing our solar business and will identify those activities where DNV GL Energy can deliver added value and achieve required levels of profitability. Building on the work completed over the past four years in defining Energy’s solar roadmap and growing our solar business, the Solar Segment Leader will act as a thought leader both externally and internally.  The individual should be capable of penetrating customer organisations (for example, utility and renewables asset owners,) at the C-suite, seeking new ways to work with key customers and establish DNV GL as a leading technical advisor and software service provider to the Solar industry.


    A segment leader position is a full-time position and normally has a duration of 2 years after which period the role can either be extended for a further agreed period, or the individual will move into another role in the organisation.



    Main responsibilities in this role will include:

    • Achieve improved global market recognition to secure extraordinary growth in terms of order intake and revenue on a global basis
    • Deliver key note addresses at selected global and regional conferences to emphasise our leadership
    • Ensure appropriate knowledge sharing across the Energy Business Area i.e. manage and deliver internal dissemination of insights, market intelligence, technology developments and opportunities
    • Encourage and promote improvements in cross regional and cross departmental working to enhance the value added to Customers.
    • Participate in cross-regional commercial activities and business development like ‘first time’ bids and complex projects in agreement with the Service/Areas/Regions /Business Units.
    • Segment Leaders will have access to Regional Managers, Business Unit Managers, Service Area Leaders, Innovation Managers, and Segment Leaders in other Business Areas to identify opportunities for co-operation across DNV GL

    Position Qualifications

    As a successful candidate, you shall fulfil below requirements:

    • Substantial experience, technical expertise and significant personal recognition and networks in solar photovoltaics (10 years’ experience expected)
    • Experience of developing and delivering corporate and strategic messages to customers and building new long term relationships
    • Proven business development skills
    • Ability to influence at a strategic level
    • Proven ability to develop innovative ideas and bring them to market
    • Strong interpersonal, relationship and stakeholder management skills
    • Well-developed critical and analytical skills and excellent decision making ability
    • Ability to work independently and under pressure
    • Excellent organisational and time management skills
    • Good presentation skills and experience presenting to large groups and clients at a senior level.


    Extensive travelling globally and some time in Arnhem will be required.
