Local Unit & Position Description

DNV GL – Oil & Gas Region Americas is seeking an Engineer to join our O&G Risk Management team, Pipeline Services, working with the risk management team developing and implementing risk assessment and management programs for Oil and Gas customers. This position is based out of our Dublin, OH office.



Tasks May Include


  • Assist in analyzing multiple sets of pipeline data using Excel or specialized software packages
  • Complete technical pipeline engineering assessments (e.g. defect assessments, change in operating conditions, change in stress conditions)
  • Assist in the development of risk assessment algorithms
  • Assist in facilitated hazard identification studies  
  • Work closely with clients to ensure projects are run to their satisfaction and requirements

Position Qualifications

  • B.S. or higher in mechanical engineering, reliability engineering, data science, data analytics, or mathematics/statistics fields
  • Programming experience in VBA, Python, SQL, or other programming language
  • Working knowledge of reliability and statistics
  • Experience with relational databases
  • Excellent computational and communication skills (both written and spoken)
  • Commitment to deliver detailed and quality work with minimum oversight
  • Willing to travel an estimated 25% of the year
  • Demonstrated proven ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems
  • Strong sense of responsibility and ownership for projects and tasks
  • Pipeline Risk Experience preferred
  • Knowledge of process safety management fundamentals desired
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
