Local Unit & Position Description

Purpose of the role:


  • DNV GL Business Assurance Group (BAG) is part of DNV GL group providing Certification, Training and assessment services. Major service lines include Management System Certification, Training, product certification, Assessments, supply chain assessments.
  • DNV GL operates in regions globally and one of the regions is India and Middle East. The position is based in Muscat / Doha / Manama reporting to Business Unit office in Dubai.
  • DNV GL BAG has ambitions to go closer to customer in all aspects in all countries in Middle East especially Gulf Cooperation Council countries enabling closer relationship in working together in providing services and ensuring the service delivery is also local to manage cost to customer optimally.
  • Aims of this position are to keep current and potential customers in close contact, increase visibility of brand in market, develop business in line with strategic and tactical plans, increase revenue, develop and deliver main services from local resources, manage delivery cost and manage accounts receivables.
  • All business process support (quotes, planning, invoicing, competence assessment and approvals, certificate issuance, financial management) will be provided from business office in Dubai.
  • The position will need extensive travel within the country by road or air as required.

Key Accountabilities:


  • Visibility of DNV GL brand in BAG business area
    • Marketing activities to attract prospective customers
  • Business development and sales for growth
    • Increase sales pipeline, convert sales enquiries into contracts,
    • Quote value and contract value per period are KPIs
    • Diversify service lines with more focus on food and beverage, supply chain assessments and other assurance services
  • Plan and deliver services locally to optimize cost to customer
    • Deliver services (upto a chargeability limit of revenue to meet own cost)
    • Manage the business portfolio to ensure revenue targets are achieved
  • Develop local service delivery resources with required competence
    • Identify and develop local resources (on-call resources) to deliver all portfolio locally thus ensuring delivery to customer without additional cost
  • Accounts receivables
    • Follow up of invoices with customers for timely settlementTypical activities or responsibilities:


Business development and sales related:

  • Develop sales plans and forecast for the area, analyzing the local market’s needs and expectations.
  • Ensuring that sales actions are carried out by developing contacts and approaching new potential markets.

Ensure DNV GL visibility within internal and external clients and customers, managing customer

  • relationship to improve retention & handling and monitoring customer feedback.
  • Proactively support the establishment, maintenance and deployment of global marketing and communication.
  • Assess, on a continual basis, the financial results of the activity and shall provide input regarding price policy for the activities within the country.
  • Keep continuous customer contact and ensure re-certification contracts are renewed timely.
  • Ensure that DNV GL is pre-qualified for tender and registered in public sector companies and institutions


Service delivery related:


  • Provide services up to a limit of chargeability that would be mutually agreed.
  • Identify and develop local subcontractors for service delivery in line with DMS and ICPs. Improve utilization of subcontractors to the fullest level.
  • Ensure service delivery is maintained at high quality.
  • Manage customer relations related to work performance, customer complaints and feedbacks.
  • Ensure all work process in country is in line with DMS and ICP.
  • For ensuring profitable and competitive pricing in Oman.
  • Ensure invoices are followed up with customer for receiving payments in DNV GL accounts in a timely manner to keep cash flow healthy.



  • Smooth business operation in the country with cooperation and directions from central office in Dubai.
  • Maintain good relations with other business area of DNV GL in the country.
  • Conform to all DMS requirements in office and business conduct.

Position Qualifications

  • Service oriented mentality and a high sense of ownership (Customer Centric)
  • Ability to work in a very structured, accurate and responsible manner
  • Negotiations and presentation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem solving attitude and team player
  • Good command of English language is mandatory, Knowledge of Arabic is added advantage
  • College / University, Bachelor's degree (relevant education)
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience in industry (service industry is preferable)

  • Full exposure about various ISO and other Management System standards is a must

  • Auditing experience (either first / second party / third party) is required.

  • Full understanding of DNV GL group DMS and

  • Business Assurance Group DMS

  • Meet and maintain all requirements related to auditor qualification from DNV GL BAG’s procedures.

Candidate need to be self-driven and motivated person to achieve goals and objectives. Shall be a good team player. Shall maintain high integrity and conformity to quality requirements and DMS requirements. Strong interpersonal skills with peers and customers is highly demanded with full ownership for business performance in the country
