    Local unit and Position Description

    Renewables Certification (RC) consists of a total of 210 people with locations in Hamburg, Copenhagen, Dresden, London, Shanghai, Beijing and Bangalore. RC has the global responsibility for Type Certification, Component Certification and Project Certification within DNV GL Energy. This includes design and manufacturing verification activities resulting in a conformity statement or similar.

    Due to current market opportunities and current work DNV GL Energy RC is looking for an experienced electrical Engineer who has experience from working in the renewables industry, preferably in Solar energy segment and has a wish to work with certification of solar energy systems in particular in India.

    Roles and responsibilities

    • The successful candidate shall be responsible for performing design evaluation as well as independent assessment of electrical components and devices according to applicable standards and regulations.
    • The successful candidate is responsible for entire certification process according to national and international regulations for the renewables energy sector including customer service and project management.
    • Performing design evaluation will require candidate to assess detailed aspects of design and manufacturing methods of electrical components and systems (e.g. Inverters, Power Transformers, Monitoring systems, High voltage switch gears, Power cables and solar trackers).
    • Performing design evaluation will required candidate to evaluate and review detailed aspects of PV module design including manufacturing methods, cell interconnection approaches, encapsulation and environmental and lightening protection systems, site conditions and plant layout configuration.
    • Review the analysis of Solar radiation data. Inclination, orientation and clearance of the solar modules.
    • Review of PV design robustness against near and far shading effects.
    • Performing electrical design review of the PV strings and arrays incl. Voltage drop calculations
    • Review of AC and DC power cables.
    • Review of energy production assessment and performance ratio
    • Review of total losses/efficiency
    • Review and inspection of manufacturing facilities for compliance with quality/safety procedures and practices.
    • Independent review of Solar PV design, testing/commissioning procedure and QA/QC documentations.
    • Write technical report including:
    1. a) Design and manufacturing of Solar PV modules and electrical systems
    2. b) Review and comments on manufacturing and installation/commissioning documentations
    3. c) Assists in preparation of proposals including scope of work, schedule and budgeting
    4. d) Assists in preparation of technical papers or presentations
    • Work in a global team with good communication skills in order to collaborate with other teams located at Hamburg, Copenhagen and China.
    • Managing multiple projects to ensure they are completed within timeline and budget at the same time maintaining the quality work.
    • Any other duties as per the market demands and business needs.
    • Strategize and establish and maintain the solar certification business in India.
    • Participate in R&D projects as and when required.
    • Manage client relationships to develop new business opportunities and promote complementary services from other parts of DNV GL.

    Position Qualifications

    Experience and Education requirements

    • Shall have 10-12 years of work experience in the design, testing and/or modelling of Solar PV modules, electrical systems, manufacturing and installation & commissioning.
    • M.Tech/B.E/B.Tech graduate in Electrical engineering from reputed institution.

     Essential Skills

    • Candidate must have strong knowledge and experience in PV solar plant design and installation according to IEC 62548.
    • Must have strong knowledge and experience in preparing and reviewing the technical/material specification, schematics, drawings with design calculation and performance simulations.
    • Must have strong knowledge & experience in design verification of electrical components such as PV generators (PV modules), junction boxes, inverter, monitoring system, high-voltage switch gears, transformers and Power cables.
    • Should have good knowledge about safety relevant electrical system and components such as Low-voltage gear, control gear, safety systems (short-circuit, over voltage and over power etc)
    • Must have good knowledge of lightening protection system, earthing and equipotential bonding.
    • Should have adapt knowledge of IEC 61215, IEC 61730-1 -2.
    • Should have experience in analyzing the solar module performance data at STC (Flash report).
    • Profound Knowledge in MS Office, MATlab, PVsyst, DigSILENT and other solar energy modelling tools.
    • Should have good knowledge about PV solar plant monitoring system
    • Shall have adapt knowledge in designing and review of high voltage switch gears according to IEC 62271 series and IEC 61936-1:2014. Shall be well aware about the type test such as dielectric tests, short-time or peak withstand current test and internal fault.
    • Shall be well worse with lightening protection system according to IEC 62305-3 and DIN EN 62305-3 supplement 5.
    • Must have sound knowledge of designing or design review of Solar tracking system according to IEC 6100-6-1/2, IEC 6100-6-3/4, IEC 62817, IEC 62727, ISO 12100 and ISO 14121-1.
    • Must have good knowledge of grid code compliance and requirements according to national and international grid codes such as CAE regulations in India.
    • Sound knowledge of manufacturing methods of PV modules, inverters, transformers, high-voltage switch gears and stations.
    • Candidate shall have solid fundamentals understanding of the manufacturing and design of Solar PV and electrical systems and can able to model and validate the device performance.
    • Must have experience of installation and commissioning of Solar PV plants according to IEC 62446.
    • Shall be well aware about the measurement according to IEC 60904 series.
    • Must have excellent English written and verbal communication skills, including writing clear and detailed technical reports and emails.
    • Experience managing multiple projects/activities concurrently at different stages.
    • Must be supportive and flexible to work on self-directed independent project.
