    DNV GL’s Global Shared Services – North America team is offering a 4-month Human Resources Internship to a Junior or Senior college student currently enrolled in a Business Administration, Human Resources, or  Communications discipline. The Human Resources Intern will directly assist the Human Resources Team with a wide range of projects related to HR compliance, recruiting, onboarding/orientation, employee benefits, and other programs.

     

    This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will learn how to take skills she or he may have acquired in school related to his or her particular areas of interest and apply them in a professional setting. He or she will gain a better understanding of the role that Human Resources can play in a corporate setting, and be better prepared to work in the arena of human resources.  The Human Resources Intern receives training in the principles, concepts, work processes, and regulations of one or more functional areas of Human Resources. As training advances and proficiency is demonstrated, work assignments will increase and become more demanding and will be designed to provide experience in a wide variety of Human Resources activities.

     

    This internship is located in our Katy, Texas offices and is slated to run for 4 months, beginning roughly June 11th.

     

    Tasks may include

     

    • Be involved with Payroll in the areas of new employee paperwork, payroll issues related to onboarding and termination, and report generation
    • Gain experience with employee benefits management issues related to enrollment and termination, troubleshooting employee benefits issues, and the customer service aspect of benefits oversight
    • Contribute to compensation management from job description management and surveying for market data
    • Maintain utmost confidentiality
    • Utilize HR Systems and technologies including Oracle HCM Fusion, iCIMS ATS, ADP Workforce Now, various benefit carrier sites, etc. Manipulating and retrieving data from various personnel databases and sharepoint sites. Assist with running reports from Payroll & HCM systems
    • Be responsible for communicating, coordinating and interacting with Human Resources staff on issues relating to various HR programs
    • Perform research, and respond to both external and internal customer inquiries.
    • Participate in Researching, interpreting and applying laws, guidance and regulations
    • Perform any additional tasks as assigned

    Position Qualifications

    • Current or recent enrollment in an undergraduate degree program with an interest and aptitude to work in Human Resources Desirable degree path in one of the following; Business Administration, Human Resources, or Communications; Student Member of SHRM a plus
    • Self-motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Prior experience working in a professional environment
    • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
    • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
    • Ability to work well individually and in teams
    • A positive, team-oriented attitude to match our friendly work environment
    • Well-organized with good interpersonal skills
    • Must commit a minimum of 30 to 40 hours per week for a 3 - 4 month period
    • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
    • We conduct pre-employment background check and drug screen

    This is a 12-week SUMMER INTERN POSITION beginning approximately June 11, 2018. This position offers an hourly rate of $14.50 - $17.50 depending on experience. Eligibility to participate in our 401k program. No additional benefits are applicable for this role.
