  • Local Unit & Position Description

    M-SA is the Approval Organization within Maritime Ship Classification and consists of Approval Centre Høvik/Ålesund, Approval Centre Hamburg and Approval Centre Gdynia. The total number of employees is around 460 with the two bigger units in Norway and Germany and a smaller unit in Poland. Main competence of the Approval Centre is in the area of approval, verification and certification services for many different maritime related assets, mainly Newbuilds, System and Components.


    In our section “Pressure & Underwater Technology” in Hamburg, we have the Technical Governance for Pressurized Equipment and Underwater Technology. Leading in the approval and certification of pressure vessels and manned and unmanned underwater vehicles like Submarine, submersibles, ROW, AUV, Underwater Working Machines and certification of Diving Apparatus/Diving Equipment. During the approval process, we consider national and international standards.



    In this context, we are offering an Internship followed by a Master (Bachelor) Thesis focusing on following topics and tasks:


    • Master/ Bachelor thesis on diving equipment and manned/unmanned underwater vehicles certification
    • Market analysis with the processing of special tasks in the field of diving equipment as well as manned and unmanned underwater vehicles certification
    • Research on international requirements for underwater technology systems
    • Preparation of a digital management solution based on customer data
    • Verifying existing certificates against old and new legislation
    • Obtaining knowledge through participation in project initiation for diving equipment as well as manned and unmanned underwater vehicles.

    Position Qualifications

    • Advanced studies in Marine Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Ship Operation Technology as well as Business Administration and Engineering
    • Experiences in the diving sector would be an advantage
    • Very good MS Office knowledge
    • Eagerness to understand systems and to deep dive into details while not losing the overview
    • High degree of autonomy
    • Advanced English skills both written and verbal
    • Good German skills both written and verbal.
