    DNV GL – Oil & Gas is seeking a Project Controller to join our team. The ideal candidate will be reliable, self-driven, with attention to detail and a strong background in working with ERP accounting systems to join the Financial Support team based out of our Katy, TX office location.


    We seek a profesional with a background in accounting and systems who is able to fully engage with and support the Operational team in assuring accurate & timely revenue recognition, project profitability, invoicing and collections.


    The Project Controller is expected to be pro-active in their communication style and seek process improvements to add value to the department. As a new employee, the candidate will be expected to fully immerse themselves into our Oracle Finance system and seek to learn on their own and from others using established user guides and research material.

     

    Tasks may include

    • Responsible for all project administration and financial controls for accounts managing $8 - $10m in annual revenues
    • Conduct Periodic reviews with project managers for revenue recognition via obtaining estimate-to-complete (ETC) for lump sum projects and capped T&M projects. Analyze and challenge input of project manager where necessary.
    • Provide financial project reports and project KPIs and report information to department managers and financial controllers as needed
    • Assist the Finance team members in assuring that departmental cost/revenues are accurate and reported timely.
    • Set up project numbers in Oracle and ensure contract add-ons/changes are entered into Oracle on a timely basis
    • Maintain and interpret contract documents for customer accounts as they relate to billing including purchase orders, master service agreements, change orders, and notices of inspections
    • Effectively communicate with Project Managers (PM), Project Team members and Senior Management regarding contract documents, change orders and other contract modifications, approvals, and any additional services-related to billing.
    • Review weekly time sheets for revenue/cost analysis and aide in reporting weekly project status’
    • Independently manage the invoicing volume for assigned customer accounts to ensure all accounts are invoiced monthly (or as per Contract Specifications) and approvals in hand from project management for issuance
    • Maintain an organization network of billing folders for all projects, with all the appropriate documents, including expenses, consultant invoices, purchase orders and monthly invoices, in accordance with standard procedures.
    • Communicate and coordinate with intercompany parties with regards to invoicing reconciliation issues.
    • Interface with Customers to load delivery of invoices and other associated deliverables directly into their online portals
    • Research/work with the business to investigate any unbilled issues for the billing period and/or instances of misstated revenues or costs
    • Recommend and implement agreed process improvements to the billing cycle.
    • Ensure a reliable insight into the financial status of projects can be obtained by a correct and timely processing of all accounting documents, in compliance with company guidelines and through GAAP standards
    • Ensure compliance with DNVGL Management System (DMS) for policies and procedures

    Position Qualifications

    What we're asking

     

    • Bachelor degree in accounting, finance or business administration preferred
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience performing project cost accounting and financial reporting roles 
    • Energetic and experienced candidate with a background in Oil & Gas or related roles in a professional services industry required
    • Strong experience with Oracle a plus
    • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
    • Experience with Relational databases and Report building
    • Familiarity with GAAP or IFRS
    • Demonstrable ability to and experience with analyzing and interpreting Contract Documents
    • Demonstrable ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
    • Ability to proactively look for and identify improvement solutions
    • Flexible and comfortable working in a changing environment
    • Ability to thrive in continuous improvement and change processes
    • Solid understanding of financial management of projects
    • Strong customer service skills, relationship-building and listening experience with a “can do” attitude
    • Strong attention to detail

    • Great team player capable of working cross-functionally
