    DNV GL - Energy’s Sustainable Use group is seeking an Energy Engineer to join our team to provide commercial customers with technical and financial support to make their facilities more energy efficient. This position is based out of the Okemos, MI office.


    Tasks May Include

    • Review and verify technical merits of business customer energy efficiency applications, including calculation of energy savings and verification of equipment specifications
    • Perform customer site inspections to verify the installation of energy efficient equipment at businesses throughout Michigan
    • Interact with customers to address questions or concerns about installed equipment or programmatic information 
    • Review and verify energy savings calculations and guide other staff in the best practices for various energy savings technologies with a particular emphasis on lighting but also including HVAC, fans, pumps, air compression and industrial process use
    • Plan and deliver presentations at meetings and training events for trade allies and customers, clients, and others
    • Identify opportunities for energy savings and demand reduction
    • Complete technical and financial analyses
    • Prepare reports in accordance with client standards
    • Perform site-specific engineering analysis and evaluation of energy efficiency projects and programs involving industrial process equipment, such as pumps, fans and compressed air systems, complex central plant systems and advanced HVAC equipment

    Position Qualifications

    Position Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or a technical field is required
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering is preferred
    • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience, coursework, or specialization required
    • An educational emphasis on energy and/or energy experience is strongly preferred
    • EIT is desirable
    • Proficiency with database and analysis tools such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Access is desired
    • Individual should display a positive, team-oriented attitude to match our friendly work environment
    • Reliable transportation required
    • Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% of the time (primarily local travel)
    • Position will require onsite inspections and walking of the customer’s locations. Some light climbing
    • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
    • We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening
