    DNV GL – Energy’s Power System Planning (PSP) Group is seeking an Engineer – Power System Planning. The focus of this group is to provide creative, cost effective and practical solutions to stakeholders in the power generation, transmission and distribution systems including ISOs/RTOs, power utilities, developers, asset owners and operators as well as investors. This position is based out of our Dallas, TX office.


    Tasks May Include


    • Performing reliability and/or planning studies including generation interconnection studies, transient stability and Electro-Magnetic Transient (EMT) studies for medium/large power networks
    • Identifying MW generation injection capability at point of interconnection subject to reliability constraints in various planning regions such as MISO, PJM, SPP, ERCOT, CAISO and NYISO
    • Performing NERC/FERC or regional compliance studies (eg: TPL-001-4 studies)
    • Managing clients in terms of projects, reports, presentations and deliverables
    • Assist with the team’s research goals in terms of development of new techniques and/or analytical tools to further the team’s performance in terms of efficiency and/or capability improvements

    Position Qualifications



    • Bachelor degree or higher in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on Electric Power Systems;
    • At least one (1) years of experience in transmission planning related studies preferably in a utility, power trading, renewable energy company or consulting environment (coursework/internship will be considered)
    • Hands-on experience with power system analysis software packages: PSS/E or PSLF or PSCAD/EMTDC is a must for this position
    • Willingness and ability to travel, up to 10% of the time
    • Strong written and verbal English communication skills 
    • We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening

    Preferred Skills (Not Required)


    • Working knowledge of automation scripts such as VB, VB.net and Python for development of automation modules
    • Knowledge of RTO/ISO markets and planning practices
