    Who we are

    In the department of Solar and Storage, DNV GL offers independent advisory and testing services to all stakeholders in the industry. For energy storage, the focus is on grid-scale applications, where our services span the entire life cycle of such installations: starting with feasibility and market studies, then due diligences and independent/owner’s engineering, as well as operational services like monitoring and power failure investigations. Furthermore, we offer trainings and workshops to our customers and cover their testing and risk assessment needs. Our customers include transmission and distribution system operators, investors, project developers, technology suppliers and authorities, within The Netherlands but also in Europe and beyond.

     

    Your tasks & responsibilities

    As a consultant Energy Storage, you will be a key person in our energy storage business development, interacting with customers and working with colleagues to get new projects. Together with the Business Lead Energy Storage and senior consultants, you will spend about 50-60% of your time on finding new customers and opportunities, serving our existing customers and setting up new services, and preparing proposals - making use of your strong network in the sector. Additionally, you will be doing diverse technical content work in energy storage projects for customers, for about 40-50% of your time. In most projects, you will work in a team with colleagues with a different levels of experience and/or backgrounds, supporting junior colleagues but often also active on a content level yourself; in some cases, you will (also) manage the project team.

     

    An overview of your tasks and responsibilities:

    • Business development for energy storage services
      • Working with regional Business Lead and senior consultants on business development, focusing on The Netherlands but frequently including international opportunities as well
      • Leading proposal development to win new projects, supported by junior and senior colleagues
      • Conceiving and developing new services
      • Extending our external network and finding project opportunities
      • Building and maintaining strong relationships with external customers - gathering and following through new leads to clear proposals and contractual agreement
      • Meeting new customers and presenting DNV GL services professionally
      • Initiating, programming and hosting events for BD purposes (practical organisation with support staff)
      • Building and actively using an internal network to gain and share knowledge and opportunities and develop new services
    • Content contributions to energy-storage-related projects, including (depending on customer needs and your background and preferences):
      • technical due diligence
      • independent / owner’s engineering
      • verification
      • modelling / data analysis
      • feasibility studies
      • workshops / courses, etc.
      • lab test suppport
    • Managing smaller and larger energy storage related projects
    • Preparing and giving presentations at events and customer meetings
    • Participation in professional bodies such as trade associations or technical committees
    • Tracking and responding to new industry/market developments

    Position Qualifications

    What we’re looking for

    We’re looking for a team player who takes initiative, has analytical skills and is eager to understand the technical consequences of a business decision as well as the business consequences of a technical decision.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in an energy-sector-related study
    • At least 3 years of work experience or a PhD, in both cases preferably related to the energy sector or energy technologies
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Understanding of the energy transition, the role of energy storage in transmission and distribution systems, and the technical aspects of this role and of various energy storage technologies themselves
    • At least 1 year knowledge/prior involvement in energy storage systems and applications, as well as industry contacts, are a pro
    • Available to travel nationally (about 2-3 days per week) and internationally (about 6-12 times per year)
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English
