    DNV GL - Renewables Advisory is currently seeking a motivated and passionate Senior Environmental Project Manager. The Project Manager will join the multi-disciplinary Environmental and Permitting Services (EPS) Section within DNV GL. The dynamic working environment will require easily adaptable and technical employees to provide services across a wide range of active projects, including those in the development, design, construction, and operational phases of project lifecycles. DNV GL is looking for a versatile individual with experience and training in relevant fields such as biology (wildlife, ecology, or conservation focus), land use planning, environmental science/engineering, or environmental law/policy or a similar field. The selected individual will be requested to occasionally undertake studies in their field of expertise, as well as manage projects for our North American and international customers. This position is based out of our Portland, OR; San Diego, CA; Seattle, WA; Austin, TX; Medford, MA office or remote locations will also be considered for this job opening

     

    Tasks May Include

    • Project management and coordination of the following studies:
      • Site selection and characterization studies
      • Permitting and compliance matrix
      • Technical permitting studies, such as visual impact assessments, and management plans
      • Lead environmental assessments and environmental impact statements
      • Zoning variance, local ordinance compliance, conditional use, and other permit applications
    • Direct the work of environmental specialists including biologists, archaeologists, GIS analysts, and sub-consultants in some cases
    • Set project milestones for scope, schedule, and budget and ensure milestones are met
    • Prepare and coordinate proposals
    • Build relationships with clients to grow the business
    • Give technical presentations and participate in panel discussions at industry workshops and conferences
    • Perform technical checking and initial approval of certain work products conducted by junior staff
    • Collaborate directly with other business groups to complete multi-disciplinary deliverables
    • Attend agency and municipality meetings, open houses, and stakeholder engagement sessions
    • Participate in R&D projects under the coordination of the Head of Section
    • Engage in facilitating innovative and new service offerings to anticipate/meet market needs

    Position Qualifications

    Requirements

    • Note: Please submit a cover letter along with your resume when applying. In your cover letter, please tell us about your experience with environmental and/or permitting in the renewable energy industry and/or experience in regulatory affairs

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required or Master’s degree in a relevant field, namely land use planning, landscape architecture, environmental planning, environmental science/engineering, or environmental law/policy preferred
    • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years of experience with environmental and/or permitting in the renewable energy industry and/or experience in regulatory affairs required
    • Experience with the regulatory requirements, such as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the New York State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA), Article 10 of the New York Public Service Law, the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), or other relevant state and federal regulations
    • Certified Planner (AICP), Project Management Professional (PMP), Professional Engineer (PE), or another accreditation preferred
    • Experience in conducting environmental and permitting due diligence reviews and understanding of international standards (Equator Principles, IFC Performance Standards) preferred
    • Understanding of geospatial data, ArcGIS, or other geographic information systems preferred
    • Comprehensive understanding of US wind and solar markets
    • Experience leading proposals efforts and large environmental permit applications for energy projects
    • Proficiency with MS Office Word/Excel/Access
    • Excellent analytical and reporting abilities
    • Demonstrated skills in project coordination, agency consultation, and environmental analysis
    • Individual should display a positive, team-oriented attitude to match our friendly work environment
    • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time domestically
    • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
