  • Local Unit & Position Description

    M-SA is the Approval Organization within Maritime Ship Classification and consists of Approval Centre Høvik/Ålesund, Approval Centre Hamburg and Approval Support Centre Gdynia. Total number of employees is around 460 with the two bigger units in Norway and Germany, and a smaller unit in Poland. Main competence of the Approval Centre is in the area of approval, verification and certification services for many different maritime related assets, mainly Newbuilds, System and Components.

    The Control System section consists of 22 employee as of today, and is part of Department Ship Systems & Components, in approval centre Høvik, which is organized into 6 technical discipline sections.

     

    The Control System Section is rule responsible for relevant automation rules, for both ship and offshore class, Cyber Security, and for several systems notations such as Dynamic Positioning, Redundant Propulsion, Enhanced System Verification (ESV) and Safe Return to Port.

     

    The Control Systems section's main task is approval of ship and offshore newbuilding and conversion projects, Type approval of systems and components to DNV GL rules, support to fleet in service as second line support and Rules and service development. The unit drives the development of new Class rules and services within the technical area, including Software verification, Cyber security and Autonomy, and provides expert knowledge to DNV GL's sales force and business development leaders.

     

    The engineer position will report to Head of Section Control Systems Høvik within Maritime Classification Approval.

     

    Areas of responsibilities / Key tasks:

    The successful candidate is expected to contribute to delivery and development of our processes, products and services within cyber security and/or software quality assurance, and to contribute to service delivery for all type of automation system.

    The candidate must expect some traveling.

     

    Position Qualifications

    •Experience and knowledge in cyber security.
    •Experience and knowledge in software quality assurance.
    •Background from the maritime or offshore/energy industry.
    •Experience with automation systems and field instrumentation field
    •Good communication skills, verbally and in writing
