    DNV GL’s Energy Transition Outlook identifies rapid growth for renewables, comprising 80% of electricity generation by 2050. Energy storage will play a vital role as an enabler for the energy transition and BA Energy has set out an ambitious growth plan for our global energy storage business, to ensure that DNV GL stays ahead of the growth of this booming industry. The Global Business Lead for Energy Storage will drive our business towards achievement of the goals set out in Energy’s Storage Transformation Strategy, leading a global team of up to 50 energy storage experts and working in close collaboration with the Regional and Business Unit Managers and their teams across DNV GL Energy.


    The Global Business Leader will focus on the key markets and customers for growing our storage business and also drive the expansion of our digital Energy Storage services, focussing on those activities where DNV GL Energy can deliver added value and achieve required levels of profitability. The individual should be capable of penetrating customer organisations (for example, utility and renewables asset owners,) at the C-suite, seeking new ways to work with key customers and establish DNV GL as a leading technical advisor and software service provider to the Energy Storage industry.


    This position may be based in any of our Renewables Advisory DNV GL North American offices.


    The Global Business Leader is a full-time position.


    Tasks May Include

    • Achieve improved market recognition to secure extraordinary growth in terms of order intake and revenue on a global basis
    • Lead and manage the development of DNV GL’s digital service offerings for the Energy Storage industry
    • Lead and manage the global Storage Transformation team, located in different regional offices, working as one virtual team
    • Drive substantial recruitment to the global storage team, in line with the strategic plan
    • Analyse new business opportunities, gather market intelligence and ensure distribution of knowledge amongst relevant colleagues
    • Decide the market approach for energy storage, and cooperate with the relevant regional teams for large value strategic and tactical projects
    • Keep up to date with developments in energy storage and identify services to promote and/or enhance
    • Cooperate and work closely with the regional Business Development managers, Service Area Leaders and Heads of Department on large multi-disciplined sales efforts and subsequent delivery set up for the projects when required
    • Participate in cross-regional commercial activities and business development such as ‘first time’ bids and complex projects in agreement with the Service Areas/ Regions/ Business Units
    • Encourage and promote improvements in cross regional and cross departmental working to enhance the value added to Customers.

    Position Qualifications


    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, mathematics, computer sciences or related field
    • Significant knowledge and understanding of the Energy Storage market, major players and future prospects/ trends
    • Proven ability to develop innovative service offerings and bring them to market
    • Experience of developing and delivering corporate and strategic messages to customers and building new long term relationships
    • Proven business development skills
    • Ability to influence at a strategic level
    • Strong interpersonal, relationship and stakeholder management skills
    • Well-developed critical and analytical skills and excellent decision making ability
    • Ability to work independently and under pressure
    • Excellent organisational and time management skills
    • Good presentation skills and experience presenting to large groups and clients at a senior level
    • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
