  • Local Unit & Position Description

    We are currently looking for a Senior Structural Engineer who will be a part of the Renewables Certification team located in London. The current team of 5 covers Offshore Wind, Wave and Tidal projects. The outlook for the UK market is strong and the team is expected to grow to meet this demand. We work closely with colleagues in Hamburg and Copenhagen and although our primary focus is the UK also work on projects in Japan, China, Taiwan, US and Europe. 

     

    Main tasks and responsibilities are:

    • Detailed structural analysis for offshore projects – e.g. BLADED, SESAM, HAWC2
    • Review and comment on project documents and methodology to confirm conformance with design standards
    • Finite Element experience for the analysis of complex structures and joints
    • Technical review of structural calculations and structural analysis, including loading derivation
    • Technical review and commenting on project documents for issue to clients
    • Meeting and discussing comments with clients
    • Occasional travel to Hamburg and Copenhagen for training, and to strengthen links with the wider team

    Our team and the wider renewables certification have extensive experience with offshore projects and have worked with 80% of the offshore wind projects to date. The candidate joining the team will be provided with excellent support to improve her / his technical knowledge and understanding of offshore projects. In addition to offshore wind, our team have a prominent position in wave and tidal projects providing an opportunity to work on many innovative technologies during their early development. 

    Position Qualifications

    • Degree qualified Structural Engineer
    • 5 or more years of experience undertaking offshore structural engineering
    • Knowledge of offshore design standards and codes
    • Experience with offshore wind certification would be an advantage but not essential
    • Familiarity with offshore structures and the technical challenges presented by wind, wave and tidal projects
    • Experience with offshore related software SESAM, SACS, BLADED, HAWC2 beneficial but not essential as training would be provided for candidates with the right aptitude
    • Ability to work in a team and to within agreed timelines
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Excellent English spoken and written
    • Experience with MS office, excel, word etc.
    • Interest in Offshore Renewables – willingness to attend conferences and travel
    • Commitment and reliability.
