  • Local Unit & Position Description

    DNV GL Clean Technology Centre (CTC) joined the APAC DNV KEMA team in January 2013 with ambitious growth plans to establish DNV KEMA in South East Asia. Now the CTC is part of the DNVGL Energy Advisory team and will partner with customers to create joint technological and commercial solutions at the cutting edge, acting as a catalyst and bridge between the players in the clean tech space to build trust, credibility and transparency. DNV GL’s global resources and experience will be used to create solutions suited for the Asian context.

     

    As a Principal Consultant, you will be responsible for providing a variety of consultancy services for external clients, including Energy storage technology and smart grid related advisory. Knowledge of smart grid   technologies and experience in Smart Grid projects and related deployment of such technologies would be advantageous. You will also have responsibilities towards business development by establishing long-term customer relationships, keeping abreast with industry needs and trends, as well as participating in industry events to ensure that DNV GL's service offerings are well-known and well-respected in the power industry, commercial and industrial site owners, battery system suppliers and regulators.

     

    Job Responsibilities:  

    • To formulate strategy and lead the overall energy storage sales and marketing strategy for Singapore and APAC.
    • To evaluate market information, identify target geographies and opportunity types, and develop and execute strategies to successfully grow our energy storage business.
    • To quickly identify high probability customers and opportunities in target geographies, understanding the customer need, create project opportunity, close the sale, Project manager and execution of the contract together with the DNV GL team.
    • To demonstrate a thorough understanding of how distributed and/or utility-scale energy storage can qualitatively and quantitatively benefit both the customers and utilities as both a stand-alone solution and integrated with other renewable technologies.
    • To maintain a working expertise on policy, rate design, and incentives in all relevant markets to ensure we are pursuing opportunities in the most efficient and effective way possible.
    • Ability to advice client’s senior executives and execute project work. A special focus on financial modelling of ESS business models, power, REC price forecasts, investor due diligence on power, renewable energy markets and regulatory framework is essential.
    • Acquire new projects, preparation of proposal, preparation of reports and managing customers.
    • Manage joint projects and initiatives with cross-functional and global teams.

    Position Qualifications

    • University degree in Electrical Engineering or Economics with specialisation in Energy
    • 10 years minimum work experience in both a technical and a commercial capacity in energy storage, renewable energy technologies, energy efficiency, or energy/sustainability solutions in APAC.
    • Detailed understanding of opportunities and issues in power markets due to high grid penetration of renewable energy and ESS.
    • Having knowledge of Market Management Systems
    • Subject matter expert on various battery storage technologies, grid connections, power electronics or battery energy management systems
    • Understanding of engineering principles related to distributed energy resources and electrical design
    • Knowledge and experience with relevant guidelines and standards for energy storage systems
    • Experience serving utility, commercial, industrial, government, and institutional clients
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills
    • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing consulting environment 
    • Strong written and verbal communications skills
    • Willingness to travel as necessary
