    DNV GL Energy Advisory Region Northwest Europe, Middle East & Africa (NEMEA) is looking for a Business Controller, to be located in our offices in Bristol. The Business controller supports the Heads of department in service area Renewable Advisory in developing and maintaining DNV GL’s culture and reach corporate business goals through professional and consistent financial deliveries for the departments within his/her responsibility.

    The Business controller shall advise, support and challenge the Heads of department in driving the business performance through established processes, objective challenge and business reviews.

    Job purpose:

    To drive best value for the region by working alongside key decision makers, providing informed insight and challenge to business decisions thereby influencing and shaping financial plans and future direction and choices through the provision of high quality financial analysis.


    Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

    • Assure that numbers are trustworthy, complete, and in time
    • Understand and report the financial performance of the department (preferably weekly)
    • Help line management to navigate systems and improve processes based on business needs
    • Review proposals - ensure risk & reward is sound, and execution monitoring via pre-post calculations
    • Partner" with the business to ensure line management take ownership of and have control over the P&L
    • "Look forward" - facilitate, report & challenge dynamic forecasting, pipeline development, and sustainable outlook of services
    • Support the development of new business models, review & challenge business plans and investments
    • Manage all finance and accounting operations
    • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
    • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements

    Position Qualifications


    • 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
    • Experience of working for a multinational business, in the service industry business is desirable

    Knowledge, skills:

    • Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics. Or professional qualification in Accounting
    • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
    • Excellent ERP software user and administration skills (Oracle and/or TEAM and/or Agresso would be an advantage)
