    DNV GL - Energy North America is seeking 2 Analytics Engineers for software products and solutions used in managing energy efficiency and demand response. This individuals will think strategically and apply skills in in data analysis and visualization, functional testing, change management, troubleshooting and training to implement business processes and applications. This positions will be based out of our Oakland, CA office.

     

    Tasks May Include

    • Project Management
      • Manage projects, including client interaction, developing project plans and supporting analytics offerings
      • Work with internal staff and subcontractors to meet project objectives
      • Meets financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing budgets; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
    • Analytics/Engineering
      • Analyze data from energy efficiency programs, including energy savings, incentive calculations, technology cost impacts, and application processes/statuses
      • Perform a variety of quality control checks to maintain and assure the accuracy and consistency of data in tracking systems
      • Perform database (SQL server, Access, or Oracle) queries and program data analysis as requested
      • Familiarity with data warehousing and business intelligence concepts. 
      • Write reporting requirement documents, create product specifications and technical mock-ups for new business intelligence tools to support decision making and performance tracking
      • Maintain existing dashboard reporting tools, identify enhancements, track and promote usage across company 
      • Perform and/or manage user acceptance and regression testing 
      • Develop and maintain products that deliver data visualizations/ reports to enable users to grasp concepts, identify patterns, and make better business decisions
    • Requirements documentation 
      • Interview business stakeholders to gather detailed product requirements (scope, background, business case, etc.)
      • Develop Business Requirements Document (BRD) or User Stories to define business rules and objectives, current operational procedures, risk, input and output requirements, system access, etc.
      • Translate Business Requirements into functional requirements by developing As-Is and To-Be process documentation, use case scenarios, data models, logic details, work instructions, etc. 
      • Create test case documents to facilitate quality assurance and user acceptance testing prior to product release
      • Apply agile management to develop user stories and help define product roadmap

    Position Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in an analytical discipline. BS/MS in engineering, mathematics, statistics, finance, or computer science are strongly preferred
    • Minimum of 3 years related experience. Previous experience in a business intelligence role is highly preferred
    • Experience with SQL and Python are required. Experience with Pandas, Numpy, Scikit-learn and/or Jupyter notebooks are preferred
    • Familiarity with Data Visualization Tools/Languages: Tableau, Power BI, D3.js is a plus
    • Machine Learning experience using R or Python is desired
    • Cloud computing experience with MS Azure, Apache Spark, etc. is preferred
    • Web App Deployment experience: Django, Flask desired
    • Knowledge of Jupyter Hub and Github desired
    • JIRA or similar IT tracking experience is highlt preferred
    • Experience with commercial/industrial or residential energy efficiency programs is highly preferred
    • Familiar with various ETL tools for transforming different sources of data into analytics data stores 
    • Affinity towards problem solving and ability to perform difficult analytical tasks with limited supervision
    • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple deliverables, and remaining flexible
    • Excellent English written and oral communication skills, able to translate complex concepts in a clear and concise way 
    • Most importantly, this individual should display a positive, team-oriented attitude to match our friendly work environment 
    • Ability to travel 15% of the time
