  • Local Unit & Position Description

    Leading the QHSSE (Quality, Health, Safety, Information Security and Environmental) function, you will provide leadership, specialist knowledge, advice, and reporting for the NEMEA Region. This role is unusual as it combines a mixture of management and operational activities.  You will set the QHSSE agenda for the Region to ensure the function meets its Regional targets and take responsibility for ensuring the standards are embedded by supporting and coaching line managers in managing all aspects of QHSSE effectively within their teams. You will line manage one adviser.

     

    Key Accountabilities:

     

    General

    • Work with Regional Management Team (RMT) to:
      • Provide support during development of the annual operating and tactical plans, and develop QHSSE related Key Performance Indicators and goals
      • Provide RMT with the appropriate support to ensure the personal safety of staff when working
    • Work with Energy QHSSE Management team to:
      • Develop the management system, and ensure compliance to all standards
      • Co-ordinate improvements and other initiatives across all QHSSE standards
    • Work with RMT to educate teams and raise awareness and improve behaviour towards QHSSE issues and activities.

    Line Management

    • Manage and lead HSE Advisor, coaching and developing the individual to ensure the function meets it strategic targets and objectives.

    Health and safety

    • Establish and monitor standards, processes, communication, training and systems to ensure line managers are effective in managing QHSSE activities within their teams.  This will involve reviewing, updating and communicating standards, processes etc to the business.
    • Identify ways of reducing risks to staff when travelling and working on business.  Develop health and safety policies if necessary.
    • Be a ‘knowledge hub’ for international travel and associated risks. Undertake risk assessments for field work across different geographies in the Region, identifying protective equipment requirement or improvements.
    • Provide advice and guidance to staff when field working or working within specialist laboratories.
    • Ensure compliance to OHSAS18001 and support the business in implementing ISO45001.
    • Manage any incidents which occur, undertaking root cause analysis, safety alert co-ordination.

    Quality

    • Ensure compliance to ISO9001 within the Region.
    • Auditing:
      • Maintain audit plans covering internal and external audits, taking into account the various standards, and undertake audits as required
      • Support mangers in taking corrective action for audit findings for Region
    • Assist Region with the handling of quality events such as customer complaints.

    Information Security

    • Ensure compliance to ISO27001 within the Region.

    Environment

    • Provide advice for any field or operational works which have an environmental impact.
    • If based in Arnhem provide environmental monitoring and reporting for the Laboratories.

    Depending upon where you are located you will also be responsible for one of the below areas:

     

    Arnhem based role

    • Provide support to the Laboratories in Arnhem (Oil and Protocol Test Labs) accredited to ISO17025.
    • Work with local teams to support the Ministry of Defence activities.
    • Arnhem has attained the Safety Culture Ladder level 3 – you will work with the business to maintain this level and develop a plan to improve and move to level 4/5.
    • Support the team in Belgium.

    Bristol based role

    • Support the major offices – e.g. Bristol, Norway, Dubai (including South Africa) and Sweden.
    • Provide specialist HSE input to support DNV GL’s windfarm operations team
      • Specialist H&S support to asset managers and site managers including site visits

    Position Qualifications

    • MVK Middelbare Veiligheidskund or NEBOSH General Certificate, or equivalent qualifications.
    • Lead Auditor on at least one of the following: ISO9001/ 45001/ 14001/ 27001 or willing to do the training.
    • Previous experience of supporting staff working on site or within Laboratories/ production e.g. ISO17025.
    • Knowledge of and experience of working in an electrical environment.
    • High level of attention to detail.
    • Ability to influence and communicate messages in a concise and clear manner.
    • Ability to juggle and manage conflicting work priorities to ensure deadlines are met.  Good prioritisation skills.
    • Ability to handle the complex QHSSE problems and be able to guide individuals/ managers through the associated issues.
    • Self-motivated with a focus on delivery and driving outcomes.
    • Flexible approach to work.
    • Travel to other offices within the Region is required.

    Desirable

    • Knowledge of the Safety Culture Ladder Standard (Veiligheidsladder).
    • Experience of working within the Energy industry.
    • Ability to speak Dutch.
    • 17025 experience if based in Arnhem.
