    Brief Team and Position Summary

     

    DNV GL's - Oil and Gas North America is seeking an Associate Engineer (Entry Level) to work in the Hydraulics and Flow Assurance Team in the Pipeline Services Department.

     

    This team of engineering consultants specializes in hydraulic and flow assurance modeling including: Single phase steady state and transient hydraulics analysis (Synergi Pipeline Simulator) and, to a lesser extent, multiphase thermal and hydraulic steady state and transient analysis. 

     

    The Associate Engineer will be responsible for the initiation, development, and completion of the hydraulics and flow assurance studies for DNV GL clients. The position is based in our Katy, TX office (Houston, TX area).  

     

    This is an ENTRY LEVEL position reporting to the Head of Section in Hydraulic & Flow Assurance Management.

     

    Tasks May Include

    • Working effectively and efficiently within a group of engineers and consultants.
    • Carry out for Flow Assurance studies using software packages, e.g. SPS, OLGA, PIPESIM, PIPEPHASE, etc.
    • Model systems from reservoir face through well tubing, flowlines, risers, export pipelines, and single phase transmission lines.
    • Compiling data received from pipeline operators and determining the appropriate methodologies and calculations to solve issue at hand.
    • Documenting analyses and processes and procedures in a technical format to clearly deliver results and the implications of those results to the pipeline operator.
    • Engage in a group of engineers and consultants, reviewing, and verifying each other’s work.
    • Interact with other team members and clients in a manner that is professional and promotes collaboration.
    • Writing of technical papers or presentations of innovative work or projects, if desired.
    • Attending technical seminars to increase understanding of the pipeline industry and new technologies as well as to develop projects.
    • Business development within existing projects and customers

    Position Qualifications

    Requirements

    • B.S. or higher or graduating in the next semester in Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Chemical or Civil) from an accredited university
    • Experience: This is an Entry Level position with no professional experience required. 
    • Technical competencies:
      • Microsoft Excel and Word, strong technical writing skills, problem solving, critical thinking, ability to pick up technical concepts quickly
      • Some knowledge of Fluid Dynamics a must
    • Travel requirement at least 15%
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to rent and drive a car and travel on public conveyances when required
    • We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening

     

    Preferred Skills

    • Microsoft PowerPoint, macro and VBA programming experience
    • Prior experience using pipeline hydraulics software
    • Prior experience using process software
    • Knowledge of fundamental fluid dynamics and heat transfer principles
