  • Local Unit & Position Description

    We are looking to hire Chief Accountant who will take responsibility for financial processes and recorded results of one or several legal entities, improve the day to day financial operating practices, ensure effective statutory reporting in cooperation with local providers, maintain local stakeholder engagement in cooperation with Regional Chief Accountant and lead the execution of the Group transformation projects (Financial Systems implementation and Legal Entity Efficiency Project).



    Primary responsibilities:

    • Responsible for the financial reporting and compliance of several countries / legal entities
    • Together with the Regional Chief Accountant responsible for coordinating and communicating with external vendors in the countries responsible for statutory reporting, local tax requirements and local fillings
    • Perform all month end and year end closing activities based on the guidance from the regional chief accountant
    • Verify compliance with company accounting policies and the application of IFRS
    • Being the main point of contact for financial/legal/tax queries from the colleagues from Business streams, within GSS organisation (HR, REM, Group) or external parties (banks, tax authorities)
    • Work closely with other departments to ensure accruals are accurate and complete
    • Initiate monthly balance sheet reviews and follow up on any open or un-reconciled items
    • Conduct monthly and quarterly flux analysis on balance sheet and P&L accounts
    • Assist with preparation of work papers as required by external auditor
    • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where limited procedures currently exist; assist with documentation/formalization of procedures
    • Undertake ad-hoc reporting and analysis requested by management.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements to further streamline accounting tasks, increase efficiency and shorten month end close calendar
    • Participate in various projects involving our enterprise accounting and reporting system


    The Global Centre Finance delivers high quality services to European countries related to Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Record to Report processes. Services are rendered in close collaboration with the GSS Finance Regional Centres , together developing the Global Shared Service Finance function for DNV GL.

    Reporting directly to the Head of Global Centre Finance. The role will be responsible for delivering GSS Finance mandatory & country specific Finance services across all Business Areas in close cooperation with Regional Chief Accountant.

    Position Qualifications

    • Academic degree (B.A. / M.A.) in Finance and Accounting or comparable qualification
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience and knowledge in General accounting
    • Fluent in English (verbal and written)
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Experience in financial controlling is an advantage
    • Understanding of tax accounting principles in order to be able to communicate effectively with a local vendor on local legislation (corporate tax, WHT, VAT, local taxes, payroll taxes)
    • Solid experience from a global finance organisation in an international company
    • Solid knowledge in IFRS
    • Good understanding of all key business processes across functional areas
    • Ability to interpret and analyse financial statements
    • Good excel and reporting skills
    • Ability to track any discrepancies to the cope/primary transaction and implement effective resolution
    • Strong analytical skills and sharp judgement
