  • Local Unit & Position Description

    Over the next few years, the power grid will change drastically. Many utilities recognize that they need a transition from traditional operations to the digital age, using technologies and concepts such as grid optimization, IT/OT integration, advanced distribution management systems and grid analytics (network analysis).

     

    As a DNV GL engineer, you will be involved in the critical developments and changes facing our utility customers, as well as the digital transformation of their OT (operational technology) solutions. You will mainly work in projects for utilities and manufacturers in our CEMED region, which consists of countries Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland and Iberia.

     

    This position will be located in our Dresden office.

     

     

    Your tasks and responsibilities: 

     

    You are involved in strategic or technical projects in the energy industry.


    You will work in a team or individually on customer-oriented solutions with a commercial approach and on an operational, tactical and sometimes strategic level in the customer’s organization. The work will be carried out in national and international project teams in collaboration with DNV GL and clients’ experts and consultants.

     

    You will have a role in which you will be responsible to offer our customers in the energy sector the following types of consulting services: proof of concepts, requirement specifications, system specification and modelling, project management or test management.

    Position Qualifications

    • Bachelor or Master's degree in electrical engineering, information technology, computer science, business engineering, telecommunication or business IT

    • Some experience in the energy industry

    • Ability to work independently, provide unique points of view on solving complex business and technical issues, and meet project deadlines and team commitments

    • High level of creativity, flexibility and initiative

    • Good communication skills in English will be required

    • Perfect German language skills will be essential

    • Able to work goal-oriented and have a flexible attitude.

       

    In addition, it would be helpful if you have some experience or ambitions to gain experience in one of the following areas:

    • Knowledge and experience related to power utility processes like system operation, smart metering, smart grid protocols, substation automation (IEC 61850) or utility communication technology
    • The Common Information Model (IEC 61970), a standardized data model for power utilities
    • Knowledge of SCADA, DMS, Power System Operation
    • Knowledge of Data Management processes or requirements
    • Hands on expertise with data analytics.
