    DNV GL – Maritime Region Americas is seeking a Principal Consultant to join our Maritime Advisory Team located in Miami, FL. As a Principal Consultant you will be a member of a highly qualified team of technical experts serving the cruise industry and the cruise ships calling at ports in the Caribbean.


    We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals with strong consulting and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will join our Section as project team member supporting maritime customers in the cruise industry or other traditional merchant maritime.


    Tasks may include

    • Work with clients to identify needs, prioritize efforts and develop and implement solutions
    • Ensure that advisory services delivered to clients are of the highest quality
    • Initiation and contribution to the development of DNV GL best practices and services
    • Work collaboratively across DNV GL Maritime Advisory network
    • Work effectively and cooperatively as a team member with a wide variety of internal and external peers and clients.
    • Efficiently manage all aspects related to projects, including planning, budgeting, resource allocation, financial tracking, QA and invoicing
    • Ensure that the work or duties performed are in accordance with the Rules, Regulations, Instructions, Guidelines and quality requirements of the organization and the instructions of the line management.
    • Maintain the confidentiality of Clients' business, processes, designs, developments and documentation at all times.
    • When applicable, to supervise the work of others and ensure that it is carried out as above and in an efficient and economic manner.
    • Communicate to line management at the earliest appropriate opportunity if in receipt of information that is important to the reputation or integrity of the organization.
    • Exhibit customer oriented focus through promoting DNV GL onboard or on-site, and by acting as a technical resource for customer questions.
    • Mentor team members
    • KAM role towards major cruise line(s)

    Position Qualifications


    • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering
    • 10 years maritime industry experience
    • Cruise industry experience preferred
    • Proven command and execution of risk management methodologies
    • Able to make effective and convincing presentations to a wide range of management, technical, and non-technical levels in client organizations world-wide.
    • Ability to represent the company in a professional manner that ensures confidence, trust, and problem solving knowledge with existing and potential clients
    • Ability to build and maintain good relationships with customers.
    • Consulting skills including workshop facilitation, process mapping, data analysis, presentation and reporting
    • Strong project management skills
    • Strong facilitation skills and the ability to handle customer expectations at management level
    • Ability to work efficiently in a structured and prioritized manner
    • Self-propelled and energetic
    • Travel requirement 25%- national and international
    • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
