    DNV GL – Maritime Region Americas is seeking a Business Development Manager to join our Miami Cruise Center.  As a BDM, you will be member of a highly qualified team of technical experts serving the cruise industry and the cruise ships calling at ports in the Caribbean.

     

    The position will work to develop more business in a growing cruise industry. The cruise industry consists of roughly 420 cruise ships, with 123 newbuildings on order the next 5-8 years. There are many new cruise companies formed just in 2019, which all represents great potential for increased business for our area.

     

    Tasks may include

     

    • Development and coordination of DNV GL's strategic and tactical planning for cruise ship market in coordination with the Cruise Ship Center Service Units and DNV GL's unit for strategy and business development
    • Responsible for DNV GL's global marketing and sales strategy and tactical plans for cruise ships in coordination with the cruise ship center service units
    • Responsibility to give feedback or initiate research and development activities for the cruise segment related to DNV GL’s technology and services, including suggestions for improvement of existing as well as to create new services based on information from the market
    • Help drive the development of maritime advisory business with strong focus on the cruise industry
      • Plan, co-ordinate, support, follow-up and improve the marketing and sales activities of the unit
      • Fill the role as KAM/TSM for select customers
      • Lead and participate in KAM and marketing/sales activity in own Area, proactively involving other DNV GL units and resources as necessary
      • Drive the efforts to increase market share for DNV GL within the cruise segment, both for new buildings, ships in operations and advisory services.

    Position Qualifications

    Requirements

    • Relevant managerial and business development experience with proven results.
    • 5+ years’ experience in cruise industry is preferred
    • Commercial, structured, strategic and solution-oriented mind-set and a pragmatic approach.
    • Ability to build trust, confidence and respect with both clients and own employees of different cultural background
    • Professional and credible presence for presentations to customers and employees
    • Can see the overall picture, cooperate across borders and share knowledge
    • Have a sense of urgency in all major activities and decisions
    • Be self-motivated and result oriented
    • Excellent communication skills with strong command of the English language and with ability to build trust across different nationalities
    • Good industry knowledge
    • Willing to travel regularly, both domestic and international
    • Language: English Speaking / Writing proficiency
