It is the industry-leading wind turbine design tool.

Bladed is currently going through a major programme of re-architecting and innovation to ensure that it retains its market-leading position into the 2020s and beyond – all of which makes it a particularly exciting time to join the team and make your mark on the future! Bladed has recently taken great strides in diverse areas such as cloud computing, performance optimisation, wind turbine blade non-linear dynamics etc. We aim to keep pushing the boundaries to keep Bladed at the cutting edge of wind turbine simulation.

We are looking for an able and motivated programmer to join our engineering code development team. They will have a software or engineering / physics background, and be enthusiastic about producing high-quality, well-architected code.

    In the role you may:

    • Contribute to the design and development of new features in the Bladed engineering code base, for example improving the structural dynamics, aerodynamics or hydrodynamics models.
    • Help to make major improvements in the structure, architecture, and general code quality of existing Bladed engineering code using mainly C++ and FORTRAN.
    • Perform verification and testing of new engineering models.
    • Fix defects identified through testing and reported by the customer.
    • Support Bladed users in their work by helping them investigate unexpected results and find solutions to modelling issues.
    • Contribute to the capturing of new requirements through discussion with users and other engineering experts.
    • Critically appraise the work of other developers with the aim of continuously improving overall quality.
    • Communicate your developments internally and externally (e.g. at industry conferences).

As a member of an agile software development team you will need to:

    • Participate in design, development, code review, unit testing, user testing and ongoing maintenance.
    • Participate in daily scrums, planning sessions, sprint reviews and retrospectives.
Produce high-quality documentation of code as part of development.
