The Resource Integration and Power Market Analytics team provides technical and advisory services to offshore wind and onshore renewable developers and investors throughout project siting, risk assessment, grid integration process, engineering design and financing. The Director (also known as a Head of Section) will provide leadership for a team of skilled staff, establish a vision, drive innovation, build plans to increase market share and revenue, and increase efficiency. This candidate should take great pride in growing new leads into trusted advisory relationships and delivering top service to customers. The candidate is preferably based in our Dallas, TX office, however other locations may be considered for a qualified applicant.

Tasks May Include

  • Contribute to development of the team’s short-term and long-term business plan including, but not limited to, annual operating budgets, annual targets, identifying growth areas, new initiatives, key customer segments, new service offerings and enhancing existing service offerings to align with market needs
  • Lead business development activities and generate increased revenues and profits by leading sales outreach activities including opportunity identification, pipeline management, proposal development and submittal, and play a significant role during negotiation and establishment of contracts
  • Actively manage the relationships and act as liaison with select key customer accounts in offshore wind and onshore renewable industry
  • Be a leader in excellent customer service, and setting the example in timeliness, quality and efficiency of our services
  • Provide thought leadership by actively participating in industry forums to promote our vision and contributions, stay engaged with industry progress and continuously challenge the team by setting higher standards to meet the clients’ ever-increasing sophistication and expectations as well as market needs
  • Manage the team’s service portfolio, to include technical oversight and quality control of the execution and delivery of work products and studies, and evolution and validation of methodologies and study inputs
  • Drive innovation for the team’s service offerings
  • Provide leadership by mentoring, empowering and coaching the team members and preparing the next generation of team leaders, manage and evaluate the performance of direct reports
  • Resource planning including justifying and leading the hiring process
  • Contribute to cross-selling opportunities for other DNV GL’s businesses

Position Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering, Business or Finance field required
  • Eight (8) years of experience in the renewable energy industry including two (2) years of leadership experience required
    • Past employment with renewable project developer or investor strongly preferred
    • Extensive understanding of energy market fundamentals including security-constrained economic dispatch (SCED), settlement, pricing, various types of power purchase agreements, hedging, and ancillary service markets required
      • Experience or understanding of one of the industry 8760-hour SCED software tools such as ABB PROMOD, UPLAN, Plexus, GE Maps required
    • Extensive knowledge of electricity markets in North America, including regulations and guidelines related to renewable energy industry required
    • In-depth knowledge of renewable project development cycle
    • Strong knowledge of renewable energy industry trends, advances in technologies and market rules, opportunities and challenges and the resulting impacts on industry stakeholders
  • Experience with power system analysis software packages such as iHedge, PowerWorld Simulator, PSS/E, GE PSLF and scripting languages such as VB, VB.NET, and/or Python preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project required
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% within North America
  • Demonstrable experience in business development and business growth related activities
  • Demonstrable experience in initiating senior executive interactions and maintaining long term relationships
  • Demonstrable experience in thought leadership including participation in industry forums and stakeholder meetings
  • Strong written and verbal English language communication skills
