DNV GL – Energy’s GreenPowerMonitor group is seeking a SCADA Commissioning Specialist to join our team.


At GreenPowerMonitor we are a global technology solutions provider for the renewable energy industry. The SCADA Commissioning Specialist is part of the Project Execution team responsible to deliver everything for our projects starting after receipt of the purchase order all the way up to final acceptance from the customer.


The position may be based out of our San Jose, CA; Katy, TX;, Austin, TX; San Diego, CA; Chicago, IL; Medford, MA offices. Remote locations are also considered.


Tasks May Include

  • Ability to apply problem solving skills to finding and implementing solutions on-site to communication, configuration or installation problems 
  • Working safely with energized equipment in an operating Solar or Wind plant 
  • Installing, configuring, and testing analog, digital, and serial devices
  • Making modifications to the hardware and software configurations
  • Interfacing with site management for Plan of Day, Safety, and technical briefing meetings
  • Performing commissioning activities for the SCADA solution
  • Capturing relevant details to assist with problem tracking and resolution
  • Understanding customer-supplied equipment by referring to technical manuals
  • Ability to travel. Managing time and arranging travel to meet customer needs and company travel guidelines
  • Understanding the project timeline and contributing to its timely success
  • Developing skills and supporting our customers remotely when not on-site
  • Perform site data validation from inverters, meters, met stations and substations

Position Qualifications



  • Associates or higher degree in engineering, telecommunications, renewables, management information systems, or computer science field
  • Proficient at safely using basic hand tools and a digital multimeter
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification needed either prior to or immediately upon starting work
  • Knowledge in RS485/Modbus and Ethernet communications protocols. Knowledge in DNP3, IEC 104, OPC and others are desirable.
  • Experience in configuration and troubleshooting of fiber and copper networks
  • Working experience with Windows and Linux command prompt interfaces
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write clear and accurate commissioning reports
  • Enthusiasm and self-motivation, including a willingness to take on challenges and responsibilities
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in a high pressure, customer centric environment while delivering high quality work
  • Demonstrable ability to work as a team member in projects and achieve the results on time
  • Experience within the renewable energy industry preferred
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 85% of the time
