Local Unit & Position Description

DNV GL is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Engineer to join our Solar Team in Lisbon and be part of an International Team of Solar Experts providing independent and owners engineering/ advisory services to our Customer.


This is a full-time position that reports to the Solar Head of Section of Iberia and Latin-America, located in the Barcelona Office.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Direct Project Work. As part of the daily work, it is expected that the Solar Engineer will be involved in technical advisory tasks related to independent and owners engineering services, which may include project analysis, data analytics, components technical evaluation, site inspections for root cause analysis. It would be also expected the Solar Engineer to perform Project Management, preparing and delivering reports and presentations as well as direct contact with the Customers.
  • Research and Development. Propose and be involved in internal R&D Projects related to the Solar Business.

Position Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional experience in the solar sector (preferable in consultancy or engineering companies);
  • Experience required on the following fields:
    • System design, energy estimates, equipment selection, and performance monitoring;
    • Construction Monitoring and/or Supervision for Solar PV Plants; and
    • Project Acceptance Tests and Commissioning Procedures.
  • Experience on the following fields will be a plus:
    • Familiar with typical equipment for site inspections (drones, thermographic cameras, EL, I-V curve tracers);
    • Familiarity with PVsyst as well as other energy simulation software;
    • Solar PV related regulations, codes and standards;
    • IEC and other relevant certifications in the industry.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills (in English and Portuguese), including ability to write clear and detailed technical reports, presentations and emails;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Lead and support independent qualitative and quantitative analysis;
  • Willingness to travel across the country and internationally;
  • Ability to work independently, with an internal team, and with external partner organizations;
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Electrical Engineering or similar;
  • Master’s degree preferred; and
  • Valid driving License.
