Local Unit & Position Description

The Rail Functional Safety Engineer is responsible for providing technical advisory and assessment services on projects and ensuring service excellence for clients. This role helps clients implement, improve and demonstrate their commitment to international and local standards. This position will get the opportunity to lead and work on a wide range of safety critical system development, RAMS and functional safety standards.


You will be expected to support the delivery for a range of services and may have specialism and expertise in several of them, including:


  • Conducting technical advisory and assessment services;
  • Key customer management and stakeholder engagement;
  • Supporting the sales team through technical advice and guidance;
  • Training and capacity building services;
  • Enterprise risk management;
  • By understanding ever changing client needs, proactively seeking to identify customer needs and providing leads to the sales team;
  • Leading projects, ensuring they are executed to clients’ expectations on time and on budget and to DNV GL quality standards;
  • Leading and communicating effectively with your project teams and clients; 


Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in a relevant field of Electric/Electronic/Computer Engineering;
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience within the Rail industry in safety critical system development, RAMS and functional safety using standards such as EN 50126(IEC 62278), EN 50128(IEC 62279) and EN 50129(IEC 62425);
  • Possess a rail signalling background;
  • Possess engineering skills regarding system or hardware or software design;
  • Possess safety analysis practical methods such as HAZOP, FTA, FMEA, and common cause failure analysis;
  • Reliability calculations;
  • Auditing capability;
  • Preparation of technical software and RAMS system documentation as required;
  • Strong communication skills in both Korean and English;
  • Assertive, Responsible, Visionary, Mature, Honest, Ethical;
  • Willing to travel within the region;
  • Strong analytical ability;
  • Able to work in stressful, fast paced and mobile conditions;
  • Ability to work in an international team deliverables on time and on budget;
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel, often with conflicting demands and timelines;
  • Able to clearly support and feedback on performance in a constructive manner to Management;
