We’re recruiting for a growth-focused Principal Consultant with proven seller-doer consulting experience in the domain of Sustainability Performance to join our Sustainability team in the Nordics based in Espoo but working as part of a team across Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark to help us achieve our vision and goals.

This is an exciting opportunity to take a senior role to achieve growth as a seller doer, lead the delivery of projects, ensure service excellence for clients and play an important role in development of others within the team. We help clients implement, improve and demonstrate their commitment and progress towards authentic sustainability.

You will get the opportunity to win, lead and develop our work on a wide range of sustainability services primarily focussed on Sustainability report assurance, ESG and sustainable finance, supply chain sustainability, sustainability strategy and climate change consulting.

When doing this, you will get the opportunity to engage with many of the leading companies in the region and brands across a wide range of sectors and to leverage a suite of services and digital technologies to scope sell and deliver innovative solutions.


Key Accountabilities:


You will be expected to lead the growth of our sales and delivery for a range of sustainability services and may have specialism and expertise in several of them, including:

  • Sustainability Report Assurance
  • ESG, green bonds & sustainable finance consulting
  • Digital Assurance including digitally enabled supply chain solutions for transparency, track and trace
  • Supply chain sustainability & risk management
  • Climate change
  • Sustainability strategy


You will be expected to lead project teams as well as helping to grow our business through the following activities:


  • Proactively seeking to identify customer needs, developing tailored solutions and selling these to new and existing clients
  • Directing projects, ensuring they are executed to clients’ expectations, on time, on budget and to DNV GL quality standards
  • Leading and communicating effectively with your project teams and clients
  • Introducing services from your own/existing discipline(s) to new clients and new services to existing clients
  • Writing thought leadership for the team to be published internally and externally and speaking publicly to generate the correct profile and market engagement in Finland and the wider Nordic region

Competency Requirements:


Sales – proven ability to sell in a consultative manner through the entire sales cycle from client outreach to bringing knowledge and expertise to inspire the client through scoping of needs, proposing and closing deals consistently to deliver on-target sales performance


Initiative & Responsibility - acts on own initiative, makes things happen and accepts responsibility for the results


Analysis & Judgement - quickly understands and analyses complex issues and problems; comes up with sound and rational judgements


Professional Expertise - demonstrates specialist knowledge and expertise in supply chain sustainability and risk management; participates in continuous professional development. Strong interest in digital transformation and digitally-enabled supply chain solutions


Effective Communication - communicates in a clear, precise and structured way; speaks with authority and conviction; presents effectively. Builds network


Constructive Teamwork - co-operates well with others; shares knowledge, experience and information; supports others in the pursuit of team goals



The successful candidate will have the following experience and attributes:

  • Proven track record in sales and business development of ESG & Sustainability services, ideally within a consultancy environment
  • Proven track record of leading & delivering consulting services as a trusted advisor and thought leader in their domain of ESG/sustainability
  • Academic qualifications relevant to sustainability subject areas
  • Proven project and/or team leader, delivering service excellence
  • Able to clearly delegate tasks and provide sufficient guidance, support and feedback on performance to Senior Consultants and Consultants
  • Able to line manage Senior Consultants and provide coaching and development
  • Excellent oral and written business English communication skills
  • Finnish at a fluent / professional proficiency level
  • Another Nordic language desirable
  • Willingness to travel and work around Finland and the Nordic region and on occasions overseas
