Local Unit & Position Description

The DNV GL Germany headquarters including the payroll department, is placed directly at the water side in the Hamburg HafenCity. We are the part of a professional Global Shared Service Center organization and provide services for over 1.000 employees, in multiple legal entities, on different German locations from Augsburg to Rostock.


We are seeking Payroll Expert for our HR Payroll Team in Hamburg.


You will be the part of GSS HR Payroll Specialist and Expert Team providing expertise in end-to-end payroll process, absence and flextime services. As Payroll Expert you will have the ownership over social insurance regulations, income tax and any related process changes execution.

Our payroll system is a long-proven SAP HCM system including a state of the art ESS / MSS service for our German employees, line managers and other stakeholders.


In your role you will:

  • Lead monthly payroll in accordance with current tax and social security provisions as well as operating rules and procedures together with the other Payroll Expert in the team
  • Act as interface with other departments in the DNV GL organization, especially the Finance team
  • Monitor changes in the local legal regulations and ensure they are reflected in payroll systems, processes and documentation
  • Organize and maintain master file and time management data, create regular and ad hoc reports
  • Implement all personnel measures such as employment, relocation processes, contract change, withdrawal
  • Provide support for employees and managers for questions regarding payroll and time management
  • Maintain contact with agencies and authorities and actively attend inspections and audits


Position Qualifications

To maximize your chances, you need:

  • Professional experience in German Payroll ("Lohnbuchhalter" min 5 years)
  • Profound knowledge of German social security contribution and income tax calculations regulations
  • SAP HCM experience is an advantage 
  • Knowledge of basic accounting processes and principles
  • Experience in Shared Service Center organization is a plus
  • Usage of Case Management System preferable
  • Precise and conscientious working style

  • Good written and spoken English skills
