Local Unit & Position Description

The global shared services group (GSS) within DNV GL provide support services and key competencies in Finance, Human resources, IT, Real Estate and Procurement. GSS strategic goals are to provide high quality, cost efficient support services to all business areas and to the group. GSS shall deliver high quality support services, fully aligned with Group policies and in compliance with laws and regulations of the countries where we operate.

Purpose of the Position 

  • With the purpose of conducting a standardized, high quality and cost –efficient support function, GSS finance has re-organized its India Operations into a Global Centre responsible for defined finance processes and transactional tasks in Mumbai.
  • Legal Entity Accountant oversees, reviews, and evaluates the corporate governance and compliance program on local, area or regional level, contributes to implementation and adoption of new technologies, ensures completion of monthly and YE reporting, works as a business partner for BAs
  • The Legal Entity Accountant is accountable to GSS management, in all compliance matters as listed in the job purpose. Accountability is achieved through providing stewardship on compliance matters for BA/GSS management in the Region.



Governance & Compliance

  • Drives Balance Sheet reconciliation review process to assure accuracy of all balance sheet positions
  • Leads and manages the annual external and group internal audits
  • Completes financial audits within 30 June or early as per local statutory deadlines
  • Active role with maintaining and developing framework for Internal Control and Compliance (SOX404)
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Specilist on all Corporate Governance related items
  • Timely calculation and distribution of dividends for all LE‘s under management
  • Prepare liquidity forecasts and maintain bank account compliance
  • Oversee completion of all statutory accounting, annual return filing (Corp Sec, update director/CC) tax returns (TP, state, federal taxes return) and other statutory filings.


System & Processes

  • Contributes to financial system implementations ensuring accuracy of data migration and successful change process
  • Supports adaptation to new technologies, systems and processes for the benefit of the organization
  • Recommend new systems to automate or improve existing processes using imerging digital technology to best effect


Reporting & Analysis

  • Drives the Period End and Year End close processes ensuring quality and fulfilment of relevant Group and statutory requirements
  • Support Group Accounting queries related to central review of management results
  • Support Management and the Business Areas as needed with additional management and analysis reporting
  • Have knowledge of the performance of the LE, incl top projects, EBITA, generally business performance
  • Ensures sufficient analysis of P&L and B/S to support preparation of statutory tax returns

Management & Strategy

  • Improve Business performance through analytics, and drive the changes needed
  • Independently analyse and diagnose relevant issues and propose solutions to these
  • Actively contribute to the success of the overall team and create results through collaboration
  • Support due diligence work associated with M&A activities
  • Adapts and reacts to changes in the work environment both within GSS and the BU



  • Assist the Business Area with bids, proposals and modeling as requested. (Tax, Corporate, Banking information)
  • Work with procurement team on the management of direct debits, procurement cards, etc.
  • Proactively seeks to understand and solve customer needs

Position Qualifications

Required education

  • Chartered Accountant
  • 5 years of experience working as Finance or Compliance Manager or Senior Finance professional.
  • Solid experience from a global Finance organisation in an international company. Good understanding of all key business processes across functional areas. Experience working in Oracle is an advantage

  • Understand the Business models of the different business areas and how this is connected to the revenue recognition process as well as the BA‘s cost structure
