Local Unit & Position Description

Singapore has a goal of becoming a global clean technology hub. Supporting this ambition, DNV GL has during the past years partnered with key Singaporean agencies and institutions in order to establish the DNV GL Clean Technology Centre (CTC). The CTC joined the DNV KEMA team in January 2013 with ambitious growth plans to establish DNV KEMA in APAC. Following the merger of DNV and GL, the CTC is part of the DNV GL Energy Advisory team and will partner with customers to create joint technological and commercial solutions at the cutting edge, acting as a catalyst and bridge between the players in the clean tech space to build trust, credibility and transparency. DNV GL’s global resources and experience will be used to create solutions suited for the Asian context.

 

We are currently seeking to employ qualified candidate with relevant experience for the position of a Principal Consultant in the Markets and Policy Development (MPD) team of CTC, based in Singapore.

The Principal Consultant shall be responsible for providing a variety of electricity and gas market-related consulting services. These include:

  • Feasibility studies of proposed developments in electricity and gas markets.
  • Advice on market regulations.
  • Advice on best practices from electricity and gas markets in other jurisdictions.
  • Design gas and electricity markets and establish market rules.
  • Electricity market forecasts.
  • Develop rules for integration of renewables.
  • Advice on retail and wholesale market strategies.
  • Advice on investment and PPA structures.
  • Develop risk-based market entry strategies.

Business development activities will include the following:

  • Establish customer relationships that are long-term with a focus on repeat business.
  • Secure projects for the markets and regulations team.
  • Maintain an understanding of industry needs and how the team can serve those needs.
  • Suggest additional services or changes so that the company plays a role in advancing the state of the art in the gas and electricity industries.
  • Actively participate in gas and electricity industry events and ensure that the company and its service offerings are well-represented.

Position Qualifications

 

  • Experienced in one or more of the consulting services described above.
  • Degree in Engineering, Economics, Business, Statistics and/or Mathematics.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in the electricity industry.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in Southeast Asia and any of the countries, Australia, Japan and/or Taiwan.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated team leadership capabilities.
  • Confident in public speaking.
  • Willingness to travel within the region.
  • Fluent in the English language.
  • Proficiency in at Chinese and/or Japanese language would be preferable.
