Local Unit & Position Description

DNV GL – Energy Advisory group is seeking an Wind IE Project Support – Team Lead to join our Independent Engineer team. The Project Support – Team Lead will assist the independent engineering project management staff in the performance of their due diligence activities. This position is based out of our San Diego, CA or Portland, OR office.


Tasks May Include

 

  • Management, training, and oversight of a team of Project Engineers that performs: 
    • Review of project closing commercial requirements (verification of equity spend, construction draws, and completion reserves)
    • Editing of IE certificates and preparation of documents for project milestone completion and general support and guidance for DD project closings
    • Oversight of the organization and distribution of project documentation related to technical due diligence 
    • Post construction operational due diligence (final completion verification, annual O&M budget reviews, manage/coordinate ad hoc lender/investor requests)
  • Support and assist in delivery of IE projects within allocated time and budget
  • Review and edit IE certificate deliverables for project financial closings
  • Perform verification reviews of equity spend, construction draws, and construction reserves
  • Guide/train newer team members to help them understand the mechanics of the loan administration process, and such understanding will also be leveraged in negotiations with clients to ensure only appropriate statements are made in certifications by DNV GL
  • Oversight of organization and distribution of project related documentation such as engineering drawings, contracts, reports, correspondence and other project documentation
  • Assists in maintaining company’s document control system, including filing and retrieving documents, researching files, etc.
  • Communication/liaison activities with other departments, clients, legal counsel, financial institutions
  • Assist Project Managers in maintaining and tracking open items/issues lists for due diligence projects
  • Processing necessary forms and correspondence associated with projects
  • Performs related project duties and tasks as assigned

Position Qualifications

Position Qualifications

 

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering/business administration/finance/accounting with 7 years’ experience in construction project finance role or renewables project construction/engineering and 1 year personnel management experience OR Master’s degree in engineering/MBA/finance/accounting with 5 years’ experience in construction project finance role or renewables project construction/engineering and 1 year personnel management experience
  • Experience with wind or solar project financing required
  • Understanding of wind and solar development and construction
  • Construction bid process, contracts, and plans and specifications
  • Knowledge of legal concepts and terminology
  • Understanding of the mechanics of loan and equity investment agreements, as such agreements affect the obligations of the independent engineer
  • Experience working with, and the analysis of, general accounting submittals (construction draws, budgets, etc.) and financing structures (construction loan and tax equity)
  • Familiarity with financing agreements and other contract documents, civil and electrical plans and specifications, etc.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Word/Excel/Access. Other database skills are a plus
  • Ability to operate under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Legal/paralegal experience is a plus
