Local Unit & Position Description

 DNV GL – Energy's Sustainable Energy Use – PDI group is seeking an Energy Engineer to lead energy efficiency and demand management efforts, conduct energy audits and project inspections. This position is based out of our Las Vegas, NV office.


Tasks May Include


  • Energy efficiency and demand management calculated reduction 
  • Review and verify technical merits of business customer energy efficiency applications, including calculation of energy savings and verification of equipment specifications
  • Customer site inspections to verify the installation of energy efficient and demand reduction equipment at Utility commercial and industrial businesses
  • Interact with customers to address questions or concerns about the installed equipment or program information
  • Analyze customer data such as logged, metered, and or trend data and perform a regression analysis
  • Conduct facility walk-throughs to identify energy efficiency and demand reduction opportunities 
  • Conduct program presentations to inform customers of energy service offering
  • Project management support
  • Database management support
  • Weekly, Monthly and annual reporting 
  • Demonstrate excellent outreach skills to maximize customer participation 
  • Lead and mentor other more junior engineers

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required. 
  • Minimum 3 years of professional management experience is required. 5 years of management preferred  
  • Minimum 5 years of energy engineering experience
  • Must be a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) 
  • Must be proficient with Energy Plus, MATLAB and eQUEST energy models 
  • Understanding of IECC 2009/2012
  • Be familiar with and capable of using energy efficiency measuring tools and equipment
  • Intermediate level in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access is required
  • An understanding of key application specific analytical tools including but not limited to data filtering, sorting and pivot tables
  • Must be able to prioritize and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Proactively seeks to identify real customer needs and manages customer expectations accordingly
  • The ability to work well under pressure in time-critical situations and be productive and self-motivated. 
  • Willingness and ability to travel, up to 10% of the time
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills, customer service /phone, organization and grammar skills are essential

Preferred Skills  


  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering
  • LEED certified 
  • Professional Engineer (PE)
