Local Unit & Position Description

DNV GL - Energy’s Sustainable Use - Program Development and Implementation (PDI) group is seeking a Head of Section to lead the cross-organization compliance, commercialization and engineering services team. This position requires an experienced professional who can craft and implement comprehensive plans in the areas of compliance, commercialization of products to support energy efficiency programs across the organization and coordinate ad-hoc engineering and subject matter consultant support. The position reports to the Head of Department and provides leadership to other staff activities. A proven track record of experience is essential.

This position could be based out of our Oakland, CA; Columbus, OH; Oak Brook, IL; Phoenix, AZ; Las Vegas, NV or Detroit, MI office.


Tasks May Include

  • Working closely with utility client programs to support quality delivery and to develop recommendations to improve the program as needs are identified
  • Budget management and tracking of performance against goals for section personnel
  • Supervision of consultant and engineering staff including performance management and career development
  • Responsible for delivery of products, including development of business cases and go to market plans
  • Provide subject matter expertise to and monitoring of programs in the area of compliance and readiness for internal and external audits
  • Preparation of thought leadership, presentations and written reports

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline 
  • Minimum 2 years of management related experience
  • Broad understanding of engineering principles and methodologies
  • Strong quantitative and excel skills
  • Ability to manage own and team’s time and workload effectively
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time 
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills as demonstrated by experience with presentations, papers or other public forums, and strong report writing skills
  • We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening


Preferred Skills (Not Required):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics or Statistics 
  • Energy industry experience or knowledge
  • 2+ years of project management experience
  • 1+ years of relevant quality experience
  • SOC, ISO 27001/9001 quality auditing knowledge
  • Product commercialization capability
  • Experience in energy efficiency, demand side management (DSM) and program evaluations
