DNV GL’s Global Shared Services team is seeking an experienced Manager, Benefits to join our HR Expert group. Within our framework, the HR Expert group sits alongside our HR Direct, HR Recruitment, and HR Advisory groups, all of whom work together as part of the Global Shared Services (GSS) Human Resources North America team.


The Manager, Benefits is responsible for process ownership, execution and subject matter expertise on all benefits-related services. They will collaborate with key stakeholders in the business areas to steer the direction of service activities and help adopt best practices throughout the North America Region for our 2500 employees in the USA, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. They will exemplify professionalism, trustworthiness, and customer service orientation as a representative of the Human Resources team.


This position is based in our regional headquarters in Katy, TX.

 

Tasks May Include

  • Responsible for managing the full life cycle of employee benefits: Medical (PPO, HDHP), Dental, Vision, FSA, HSA, Life/AD&D – including benefit enrollment, termination, changes, and claim management. Manage annual open enrollment process. Working with teammates and brokers, devise a benefit plan strategy – design, analyze, implement and change when necessary
  • Manage 401(k): work closely with 401k plan advisors and vendor representatives. Process deferral changes, loan changes, hardship withdrawals, etc.; main contact for employee questions. Process invoices for 401k provider and advisor. Assume lead role for retirement plan 5500 audit and file 5500, planning and working with consultant and auditors
  • Oversee benefits compliance activities across North America including but not limited to DOL IRS, ERISA, HIPAA, and FMLA
  • Oversee staff managing Leave and Disability administration, benefit billing and HRIS system set up
  • Oversee non-U.S. benefit operations (medical, retirement and leave administration.)
  • Manage a team of associates, defines roles and responsibilities clearly and concisely, promotes strategies for effective teamwork and leadership development, and assigns direct reports to special assignments that broaden the scope and professional value of their skills
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required

Position Qualifications

Position Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management or related area required
  • At least 7 years’ experience in US employee benefits, preferably including a senior or leadership role on a benefits team
  • Demonstrable experience with payroll and HRIS systems preferably in complex organizational situations required. Prior payroll operations experience preferred. 
  • Experience with handling populations greater than 1000 
  • CEBS certification a plus. Experience with Oracle and ADP a plus.
  • Previous work experience in Shared Services environment will be preferred
  • Broad based knowledge of HR functional areas is preferred
  • Exceptional Customer Service skills required
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail required.
  • Must be computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite of applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint). Must have excellent Excel skills
  • Exemplary ethics and dedication to professionalism and quality
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills; Spanish and/ or French language skills a plus
  • Must be able to handle confidential material and comply with privacy concerns and regulations
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Physical requirements
  • Must be able to work at a desk or workstation, sitting or standing up to 95% of the time
  • Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office, to access file cabinets, conference rooms etc. 
  • Must be able to use a computer, with or without reasonable accommodations up to 95% of the time
