Local Unit & Position Description

DNV GL – Energy Advisory Laboratory Services Group is seeking a full-time Project Manager - Solar Laboratory Services to join a Program Management team. The project manager will oversee external, client-facing projects from inception to completion. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of laboratory testing projects including translating proposals to test scopes, monitoring and tracking project execution, informing clients of project status on a regular basis, writing, reviewing and approving client deliverables, and completing all internal requirements for project management (invoicing, accounts receivable, etc.). 


The position is based out of our office in Berkeley, CA and may require occasional travel to the Davis, CA or South San Francisco, CA solar test facilities.


Tasks May Include

  • Forecast project timelines for external projects
  • Interface with technicians, engineers, internal and external customers on project timelines and execution
  • Routinely track multiple energy-related projects at different facilities (Berkeley, CA; South San Francisco, CA; Davis, CA; Rochester, NY)
  • Monitor resource utilization and identify capacity issues
  • Create and manage test flows for each new project based on scope of work and project schedule
  • Provide regular project status updates to internal or external customers
  • Author reports and deliver results of projects

Position Qualifications

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field required
    • Engineering, Science, Mathematics, etc.
    • Master's degree a plus
  • At least 4 years’ experience with project management or related responsibilities required
    • Technical editing or writing experience a plus
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.), and Microsoft Project
  • Willing and able to travel periodically to the Davis, CA and/or South San Francisco, CA solar test facilities, <10% of the time
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening
